If there are no votes the same, then the track is randomly selected. Basically the majority vote selects the track. Which is better than one-on-one but given the time you'd have to wait for racers to join you, the count quickly feels abysmal.Ī typical WiFi match consists of four rounds on a point system determined by the ballot approach for selecting tracks. This game's version of the infamous Rainbow Road might feel like a roller-coaster but ends up being short-handed compared to other Mario Kart games.īut the biggest problem with this game has to be the Wi-Fi mode.įor one thing, while there might be 8 racers on any given standard race, the races online can only let you race with 3 other people. While this game delivers all the goods and fast-paced action we've come to feel for all Mario Kart games, there are some things that they could have improved on. Although, there are times where the given dimensions of the cart canvas are a tad too small, prohibiting your feel for creativity. The other cool thing to do with this touch screen, is that you can create your own emblem for your cart with the paint mode. If you touch the touch-screen during the race it will change into a more detailed map and rankings view for those who might be more advanced to the MK games and wish to have a overall glimpse of their race. This game certainly took advantage of the touch screen.įor one thing, it allows a alternate, overhead avatar view of the race and it keeps you on the track for when you stumble across a Blooper (which was a new item for this game I believe) which squirts ink on your view of top screen and temporarily restricts your field of vision. The Missions mode is a great way to improve on your skill and waste time a fresh breath from the other typical racing modes. I also like how in Time Trial mode, if you're fast enough, you can race against the ghosts played and programmed by the staff of the game. This game has tracks that are original to the game and tracks that come from all the other Mario Kart games that preceded it. The graphics are pretty good for its time Donkey Kong pretty much looks like Donkey Kong and I especially love the looks of his Rambi Rider kart as it flooded back memories of the great Donkey Kong Country game. I gotta say, it was a good enough game to keep me playing it for a long while. This was my first game that I bought when I was introduced to the last generation with an Electric Blue Nintendo DS. Game packs a portable punch but lacks in WiFi fun.
